Today we commemorate the creator of detective fiction

𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐞 (19 January 1809 – 7 October 1849) is best known for his ingenious poetry and short stories. He had a profound impact on American literature. His story “The Murders in the Rue Morgue” established him as a forefather of detective fiction. He was impoverished despite his success.

Faz hoje anos o escritor José Eduardo Agualusa (13 de Dezembro de 1960). Natural do Huambo, Angola, venceu vários prémios literários, entre os quais o Prémio Fernando Namora (2013) e o Prémio Literário Internacional IMPAC de Dublin (2018). Das suas obras, destaco “O Vendedor de Passados”, “A Rainha Ginga” e “Um Estranho em Goa”.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known by his pen name Mark Twain. He was an American author, humorist, publisher, lecturer, and entrepreneur. He is best known for writing the classic American novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884).

John Barry Prendergast (3 November 1933 – 30 January 2011)

His career lasted about 50 years. He was one of the all-time great masters of film music. He composed the scores of eleven of the James Bond movies. He also arranged and performed the “James Bond Theme” for 1962’ Dr. No, the first film in the series. John Barry was a five-time Oscar recipient.
